Supplementary Material Guidelines
To ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to international publishing standards, Annals of Clinical and Analytical Medicine provides the following guidelines for the preparation and use of Supplementary Material in submitted manuscripts.
1. Placement of Extended Tables
Large, detailed, or multi-row data tables that disrupt the readability and structure of the main manuscript should be included as
Supplementary Material rather than placed within the main text.
2. Numbering Format
Supplementary tables must be labeled as Table S1, Table S2, Table S3, etc.
The prefix “S” clearly identifies the table as part of the supplementary files and prevents confusion with tables in the main manuscript.
3. In-Text Citation
A single clear citation to the Supplementary Material is sufficient. This reference should appear at the first mention of the relevant table,
either in the Materials and Methods section or the Results section.
Example: “The detailed data used in this study are presented in Supplementary Tables S1–S3.”
4. Summary Table in the Main Text
When an extended table is moved to the Supplementary section, a concise summary table should remain in the main manuscript.
This summary table must include only key variables and core findings essential for interpretation.
5. Additional Content That May Be Included
The Supplementary section may include the following materials when appropriate:
- complete raw data sets,
- extended methodological descriptions,
- literature search strategies or algorithms,
- additional statistical analyses or models,
- PRISMA or similar study flow diagrams,
- supporting figures, images, or documentation enhancing transparency and reproducibility.
6. Publication and Accessibility
Supplementary files are not included in the reference list. They are published online alongside the article and made accessible
through the Supplementary Files section of the article’s webpage.
These guidelines aim to standardize data presentation, ensure transparency, and enhance the scientific value of manuscripts submitted to ACAM.
