Abstract
Peroneal palsy is entrapment neuropathy of peroneal nerve and presents with foot drop. Peroneal nerve is caused by external compression mainly at the fibular head because of the nerve lies superficially. The nerve can be injured because of several mechanisms most commonly direct trauma. Patients’ most important complain is walking difficulty because of weakness of ankle dorsiflexor muscles. While history and physical examination show the way in diagnosis, most useful method is electromyography (EMG) for determining lesion level. In this report, we present a 16-year old female patient who had acute bilateral peroneal palsy induced by squatting for a three hours with clinical and electrophysiological findings. Treatment and prognosis are reviewed with accompanied literature.
