Bilateral endobronchial seeding after hydatid cyst rupture

Abstract

A 10-year-old boy presented with sudden unset cough and watery sputum which occured 10 days ago. Chest computed tomography (CT) demonstrat-ed a ruptured left sided pul-monary hydatid cyst with bi-lateral alveolar consolidation areas due to endobronchial spread (Figures 1,2). Albenda-zole (10 mg/kg/day) theraphy was started. Cystotomy and capitonnage was performed via a standard muscle sparing thoracotomy and the patient was discharged uneventfully.
