Author Guidelines

Please submit your articles in accordance with these formatting rules and guidelines, which have been prepared to ensure stylistic consistency for our journal.

Language

Manuscript Language

Articles and abstracts should be submitted in English. They should be evaluated by a language expert, and this should be indicated on the Presentation to the Editor page.

If the language expert is not one of the authors, their name must be included in the Acknowledgement section of the article.

Originality

Not Published Elsewhere

Each author must declare that the submitted manuscript, either in full or in part, has not been previously published and is not currently under consideration for publication in either printed or digital form. This rule applies to all content, except abstracts of 400 words or fewer, and includes presentations, books, articles, and other forms of information dissemination, whether in print or electronic format.

Authors are required to obtain written consent from the original author and copyright holder for any quotations taken from previously published works. This consent should be documented within the manuscript and submitted along with it. If a study has been previously presented at a congress, conference, or as a poster presentation, this must be indicated on the title page, specifying the date, conference name, and location.

Review

Assessment & Publication

Assessment

Please review the journal’s guidelines carefully before submitting your manuscript. Articles that do not comply with the formatting requirements will be returned to the author without further review. Submitted manuscripts will be evaluated by two or more national or international reviewers who are experts in the field and not part of our editorial team. Articles are assessed based on their importance, originality, and scientific validity. After the peer review process, the manuscript will also be reviewed by the editorial board.

If necessary, the editorial board may correct spelling or grammar errors without altering the content. Additionally, the editorial board has the authority to request modifications to the content or format of the article or to ask that the article be shortened. If such changes are required, authors will be informed in writing. Articles will not be published until these revisions are completed. Once the manuscript has been submitted, no additions or deletions to the author list may be made without written consent from all authors.

Acceptance for Publication

If approved by the editorial board, submitted manuscripts will be scheduled for publication.

Handling of Unaccepted Manuscripts

In line with international publication ethics (AMA, ICMJE, COPE, WAME), unaccepted manuscripts and files are not returned and are permanently deleted from the system soon after the editorial decision.

Rights

Copyright and License

The copyright of all published articles remains with the author(s). By submitting the Copyright & License Agreement form, the author(s) grant the Annals of Clinical and Analytical Medicine (ACAM) a non-exclusive license to publish the work under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). This license allows others to share, adapt, and distribute the work for non-commercial purposes with proper citation of the original source.

Any commercial use of articles, data, tables, figures, or videos published in ACAM requires prior written permission from the publisher, even if derived from the authors’ own work. The corresponding author must upload a Copyright & License Agreement form signed by all authors during the online submission process. No payment or royalty is provided to authors for submitted or published manuscripts. The full responsibility for the scientific content rests with the authors.

Scientific Responsibility Statement

Authors must declare in the Copyright Transfer Form of the accepted article that they are responsible for the scientific content of the article. These areas of responsibility include study design, data collection, analysis and interpretation, writing, preparation and scientific review of the content, and approval of the final version of the article.

Submission

Manuscript authors are not compensated in any way for their manuscripts. The content of the articles is entirely the responsibility of the author. For any commercial use of material from this open-access journal, permission must be obtained from the Annals of Clinical and Analytical Medicine.

Style & Formatting

Style Guidelines

Authors should adhere to the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

Follow ICMJE’s General Principles and Reporting Guidelines and meet the specific requirements for the following sections: title page, abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, references, tables, figures, units of measurement, abbreviations, and symbols.

For consistency and style of the text, refer to the American Medical Association (AMA) Manual of Style or another internationally recognized style guideline.

Formatting

Microsoft Word is preferred for manuscript submissions. Use a 12-point font in Times New Roman or Arial. The entire document should be double-spaced, with approximately 3 cm (1 inch) margins on all sides of the page.

Keywords

Following the abstract, include at least three keywords, separated by a comma (,). Keywords should be selected from the NLM’s MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) database: https://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/

AI Policy

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, or Grammarly in the preparation of manuscripts is permitted only under strict ethical conditions. These tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors, as they do not meet the authorship criteria defined by ICMJE.

Disclosure Requirement

Authors must clearly disclose the use of AI tools within the manuscript, specifying the exact role and extent (e.g., language editing, formatting, summarization). This information should be stated in the Acknowledgments or Methods section as appropriate.

Author Responsibility

All responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and ethical compliance of the content lies solely with the human authors. AI tools must not be used to generate, analyze, or interpret scientific data, nor to draw conclusions without expert oversight.

Misuse of AI Tools

The use of AI tools to fabricate data, invent citations, manipulate references, or plagiarize content constitutes a violation of academic ethics. Such misconduct will result in immediate rejection or retraction of the manuscript, and notification of relevant institutions if necessary.

Compliance with International Guidelines

This policy is aligned with the recommendations of COPE, ICMJE, and WAME. Authors are strongly encouraged to consult these bodies for further guidance on the ethical use of AI tools in scholarly publishing.

References

The number of references is limited according to the type of article:

Original research

Up to 25 references

Case reports and surgical techniques

Up to 8 references

Literature reviews

Up to 85 references

Letters to the editor

Up to 4 references; the article being discussed must be cited as the first reference

References must be formatted according to either the National Library of Medicine (NLM) or the American Medical Association (AMA) style. If a citation generator is used, authors should carefully review the final formatting to ensure that punctuation and necessary elements are accurate and complete.

Reference Formatting Style

Our journal uses the Annals of Clinical and Analytical Medicine reference style. Authors are required to format their references accordingly. For those using EndNote reference management software, the appropriate style file can be downloaded directly.

Article Types

Manuscript Categories

Original Research

Organized under Title Page, Abstract and Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Limitations, Conclusion, References, Tables, and Figures. Up to two tables and two figures may support the text without duplicating data. After Discussion, include a brief Limitations paragraph and a concise Conclusion. Declarations after References: Ethical Approval, Informed Consent, Funding, Conflict of Interest, Data Availability, Acknowledgment, Author Contributions, and Scientific Responsibility Statement.

Review Manuscripts

A comprehensive, balanced, and critical evaluation of the literature on a defined clinical or analytical topic. Sections: Title Page, Abstract and Keywords, Introduction, Main Text (with subheadings), Conclusion, and References. Up to three tables and three figures. Declarations after References: Funding, Conflict of Interest, Data Availability, Acknowledgment, Author Contributions, and Scientific Responsibility Statement. Ethical approval and informed consent are not required unless unpublished data or identifiable patient materials are used.

Case Reports

Prepare in line with the CARE Guidelines. The title must contain “Case Report.” Maximum 1500 words (excluding title page, abstract ≤150 words, and references). Structured abstract (Introduction – Case Presentation – Conclusion); main sections: Introduction, Case Presentation, Discussion, Limitations, and Conclusion. Include a clinical timeline when relevant. After References: Ethical Approval, Scientific Responsibility Statement, Animal and Human Rights Statement, and Conflict of Interest.

Case Reports and Surgical Technique

Maximum 1500 words, excluding title page, abstract (limit 150 words), and references. Surgical techniques should be described in detail, both in writing and visually.

Letters to the Editor

Scientific opinions, observations, questions, or critiques related to articles published in the journal within the past 12 months. Title must begin with “Comment on: [Title of the referenced article]” and include full citation details. The discussed article is reference number 1. Maximum 400 words and 4 references; tables or figures only in exceptional cases. No abstract or subheadings. Conflict of interest statement is mandatory. Ethical approval and informed consent when patient data are included; funding statement when applicable.

Editorial Comments / Discussion

Written by experts in the field and follow an article related to this area of study. Word limit: 1500 words.

Medical Education / Scientific Letter

Medical education articles focus on current medical issues and educate readers with up-to-date clinical and laboratory information. Scientific letters provide relevant information, a related title, and references.

Images and Videos

Images should be original and feature rarely seen medical cases (72 dpi). Each image must include a related summary. Preferred video formats: AVI, MOV, MPG, or RM; resolution 320×240 pixels; max duration 30 seconds; 20–30 fps. Submit images and videos as separate files.

Ethical Responsibilities

Absence of Animal or Human Studies

If no animal or human studies were conducted, include the following before References:

“No animal or human studies were carried out by the authors for this article.”

Animal Studies

State in the Methods section that all animals were treated ethically in accordance with the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. Submit a copy of the ethics approval. Include analgesia and euthanasia methods. If accurate, add:

“All institutional and national guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals were followed.”

Human Studies

Include confirmation that informed consent was obtained. All procedures must follow institutional or national ethics standards and the 1964 Helsinki Declaration. For studies in Turkey, include compliance with the “Regulations on Pharmaceutical Research” (Official Gazette no. 27089, Dec 23, 2008). Submit ethics board approval. If a patient photo is used, written consent is required. Include the statement below if applicable:

“All procedures performed in studies involving human participants were in accordance with the ethical standards of the institutional and/or national research committee and with the 1964 Helsinki Declaration and its later amendments or comparable ethical standards.”

Funding

All original articles, review articles, case reports, and all letter types should include a Funding statement describing who funded the study and their role. Include grant numbers and funder website URLs. If appropriate, use:

“The funders had no role in study design, data collection and analysis, decision to publish, or preparation of the manuscript.”

Conflict of Interest

All original articles, review articles, case reports, and all letter types should include a Conflict of Interest statement. Please disclose all financial resources that could be considered a potential conflict of interest regarding the manuscript or its submission.
